BE A SCHOOL-BASED BIG
In our school-based program, Big Brothers and Big Sisters meet with their Little at the school during the lunch period one day each week. You are typically in a room with the other BIGS and LITTLES from the school. This is a great stepping stone into the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. It gives you the opportunity to meet your Little in a controlled environment and enjoy getting to know them with the company of other volunteers like you!

BE A COMMUNITY-BASED BIG
In our community Big Brothers Big Sisters program, you are matched with a child who shares common interests with you. You meet with them for 1-2 hours each week outside of school. You can take them to fun community events, the library, play a game, take a hike, out to lunch, or anything else that may interest the two of you. It's typically one on one time with your LITTLE. As you are comfortable, you can even bring your LITTLE to your home. this program is a true mentoring program and can make an incredible difference in the life of your Little.

Businesses at Lake of the Ozarks give a lot to the community.
Unlike many charity organizations, Lake Area Big Brothers Big Sisters has hard costs to keep the program running. We have to have a paid employee on our team who is trained at conducting thorough background checks on BIG applicants, matching BIGS and LITTLES, monitoring the school-based program, monitoring the relationships between the BIGS and their LITTLES monthly, as well as documenting and reporting ALL activity.
As you can imagine, this is a large effort and it's essential because we are dealing with children. This is not a job that a volunteer can do. We also host a few events per year where all of our BIGS and LITTLES can enjoy spending time as a group. We get as much donated for these events as we can, but there are typically costs associated with venues and host facilities.

PAY MONTHLY : $83 PER MONTH
